This forum is the property of the Hawaiian Island Paranormal Research Society and the members who use it. Everyone has different opinions so please respect that fact.

Rules Introduction
These rules are made to help upkeep our forums and maintain the main purpose of having everyone in the state of Hawaii and visitors from all over the world to share experiences, information, activities, etc. all in one centralized website. We did not make rules to suppress your opinions. Some of the rules may seem unreasonable and unrealistic but our forums are open to be monitored by HPD (and possibly other agencies) and some of our moderators are LEOs; there are certain subjects and activities you are prohibited from discussing. Be careful on what you say on these forums, Hawaii is not a big place. If you offend someone, they may be closer to you than you think!

Enforcement of the rules is done completely at our discretion. We may choose to enforce the letter of the rule, or we may choose to enforce the spirit of the rule. If we believe a user is bending a rule or trying to exploit a loophole, we will treat the incident as if a rule is being broken outright. WE WILL TRY TO BE AS FAIR AS POSSIBLE BUT INTERPRETATION OF THE RULES IS COMPLETELY UP TO US AND WE WILL HAVE THE FINAL SAY.

If we feel any of these rules are being violated, your post(s) may be edited, closed or deleted. Your account may also be temporarily or permanently banned, locked or deleted. We reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread or account for any reason and without notice or explanation.

Here at highparanormalforum, we can only monitor so much information that goes through each post. We cannot guarantee that we will catch everything.

It is the sole responsibility of an individual to control what content, pictures, videos or activities they post on social networking sites and who they trust to view their media. If an individual decides to post subjective media of themselves online whether it is public or private, they are giving indirect consent for everyone online to see them and to receive criticizing remarks. Even if that media is private, it may still be leaked out to the general public.

It is the responsibility of parents or legal guardians to monitor what their child is posting online. We are not responsible for what HIPRS/HIGH members find on social networking sites. Please take the necessary precautions so you or your child does not become a victim.


General Forum Rules

1. You must be 16 or older to register for these forums!

2. You are limited to only one account. If you are caught with more than one account, your account(s) may be deleted.

3. Avatars will be 100x100px. They will not contain offensive pictures or pornography.

4. Signatures are limited to text for now. You may not post links to offensive material, pornography or advertising unless you are authorized to do so.

5. Keep the topics on the forums related to the forum itself. (Example: EMF Meter use would be in the Equipment Catagory.)

6. Be careful on what you post. The HIGH Mods and Admins are obligated to remove threads and posts that are complaints and causes legal issues. Hawaii is only so big and what you post about another person may be used against you. If you post something inappropriate about a local individual and they send us complaints, be prepared for the consequences.


General Posting Rules


If you post asking people for their feedback, be prepared to hear both positive and negative views. That is what message boards are for. If you can't stand to hear somebody say they don't like your post, don't post. Threads and posts may be deleted without warning. It is your responsibility to contact the moderator of the forum (via PM) or the report post link () if you are a victim to anyone breaking these rules. DO NOT try and solve the conflict yourself by publicly making a thread.

1. Do not incite or perpetuate conflicts or arguments. This is commonly referred to as flaming. Be polite and respect others' opinions. Controversy is welcome as long as everybody remains reasonably civil and mature. If you have a violent disagreement with someone, take it to private messages or email.

2. Do not encourage chaos or dissent. If we think your post may compromise harmony on the forums, we may delete or edit it without warning or explanation.

3. Do not post offensive pictures and pornography. Do not post pictures of other members to insult them unless you have permission to do so.

4. Subjects and messages should not have any derogatory comments towards any race, gender, sexuality, ethnic background, or age. Hate and trash talking will be EXTREMELY limited on this forum (most likely WILL get deleted or moved to the FAIL FORUMS once caught). We will delete or move any and all hate and trash talk threads.

5. Do not make posts that significantly disrupt the layout of pages. This includes unusually large images, long lines of text or excessive use of images, text or blank space. We will consider the disruptiveness of your post against the value of its contribution. This also applies to avatars and signatures.

6. Warez/Serials/Keys. Do not post software serial numbers or keys or refer people to specific websites, software, or techniques whose purpose is to break or bypass software licensing methods, distribute cracks, or obtain or use commercial software or media in violation of its license and/or for copyright violation. Do not ask for or give such help.

7. Posting of illegal activities. Do not post content that encourages activities such as trespassing, gambling, drug use or any other activities prohibited by state and federal laws.

8. Advertising. Please refrain from advertising the services, products, etc., of your business, group, workplace, faction, etc. Please message a moderator or administrator if you would like to inquire about advertising within this forum. Any ads placed without out permission will be subject to deletion without warning.

Social User-Groups
The content posted in these discussions are still subject to all forum rules but may be loosely moderated by the group owner and/or a moderator.

Other Forum Rules
There may be rules added to a specific forum not listed here. Those rules can be applied to any forum also. Rules may change at anytime without notice.

Moderation & Enforcement of the Rules

highparanormalforum is loosely moderated by site-owner, Administrators and Moderators. Moderators cannot monitor every thread and post, so they rely on members to report problem posts that they encounter. The point of moderation is not to limit discussion, promote or suppress points of view, or any other secret agenda. The goal of moderation is to keep the forums enjoyable and free from problems that detract from the experiences of our members.

Threads moved to the FAIL FORUM may be at will without warning. Threads and posts moved to the FAIL FORUMS may be used as a reference for earlier offenses.

If your post was removed, there was a reason for it; review these rules because one of them applies to your post or a previous post (because when a post is removed, posts that quote it or reply to it are often removed as well).

The moderators understand that anyone can make a mistake now and then, and they are generally forgiving of minor problems. The most common moderator actions are to correct posts or threads, issue reminders or warnings, and answer questions.

If you feel a moderator(s) is being unfair, PM the moderator(s) about your problem. If you still feel they are being unfair, PM an Admin with posts, private messages, thread, etc., to backup your case so the Admins can review your case and discipline the moderator if necessary. Do not try and take your issues publicly or it may backfire on you and possibly get you banned for disrespecting a mod or admin.

Discipline System


The discipline system is used to enforce the rules on any members to keep the forums running smoothly. Members may get banned without notice or warning. 


Infractions


For every rule/reported post you receive, a Mod or Admin may give one infraction point.
There are 2 types of infractions:

1. Expiring Infraction – Infractions that expire after a certain time period.

2. Non-Expiring Infraction – Infractions that never expire.

Three points leads to an automatic ban. The ban is lifted once an infraction expires. If there is 3 non-expiring infractions, it will be considered a permaban.

Temporary & Permanent Ban

Bans are issued to any members who constantly break rules, disrespect the mod team, constantly insinuate drama, spam the forums, considered a troll or any of the combinations mentioned. Temp bans may last anytime from a day to a year. Permabans have no time limit and a member will stay banned unless an Admin decides to lift the ban.

Instantly Bannable Offenses

1. Spam and overposting
Not just being a prolific poster, but posting the same exact post many times, posting multiple pointless posts in the same thread, making numerous posts with no real content, or posting for the purpose of gaining a higher post count. You may get a warning but most likely get you banned. Spamming services that may lead to Pyramid Schemes, Scams, Pornography, pirated material, etc., will also get you an instant ban.

2. Pyramid Schemes
HIPRS/HIGH does not condone multi-level marketing schemes (e.g. Quixtar, Pre-Paid Legal, Amway, etc.). Members who post referral links to these sites will have their posts/signatures edited and may be subject to banning. New members who post solely for this purpose will be immediately banned.

3. Harassment
Purposely intimidating a particular member, harassing them, sending them rude, sexual or unwanted private messages, etc. This includes personal attacks on moderators for doing their jobs.

4. Hoaxes
Purposely misleading other members to their detriment. Giving advice you know to be incorrect or harmful. Sensationalism.

5. Threats
Any threats made to "meet up" to physically hurt another member or threats to hack and exploit a member will have their account frozen and if needed be, have posts, private messages, IP addresses, etc., turned over to the proper authorities if an investigation is conducted.

6. Scams
Scamming other members will get your account frozen and if needed be, have posts, private messages, IP addresses, etc., turned over to the proper authorities if an investigation is conducted..

7. Illegal activities.
Using our forums to conduct illegal activities as stated by state and federal law such as street racing meets, drug dealing, selling of illegal items, etc., will have both party's account frozen and if needed be, have posts, private messages, IP addresses, etc., turned over to the proper authorities if an investigation is conducted.

8. Blatant disrespect to a Mod or Admin
Mods and Admins are volunteers that enforce the rules of the forums and just doing their jobs. If you get your thread/post deleted, an infraction or was banned, it was for a reason. Treat the Mods and Admins has how you would like to be treated and they will do the same.

9. Soliciting or fishing for cases and/or information
This forum is property of the Hawaiian Island Paranormal Research Society. People posting here do so seeking information from HIPRS/HIGH and may be inquiring about possible research and investigations regarding claims posted. Members are encouraged to help answer questions or offer advice, but please refrain from using our forum and the information displayed within to attempt to establish contact with the posting members.
